The rush of white water rafting!

Ever wanted to go White Water Rafting? If so, the Snake River outside Jackson Hole WY is the place to go! What a rush!

White Water rafting on the Snake River was certainly a highlight of our summer Roadtrip. If you missed my posts on Glacier National Park (click here) or Yellowstone National Park (click here).

My friend Eric set the rafting trip for us through Mad River. I highly recommend to book your trip with them. They were extremely professional and our guide was wonderful! Click here for more information on Mad River.

First off, I have to admit that I was beyond scared: we had the youngest kid (age 6: which is also the minimum age), the river was running extremely fast and we had class 3 & 4 rapids.

BUT… it was one of my favorite things I have ever done! And I got to experience this with my family and tribe of friends!

From the start:

Mad River was great at explaining what we were about to experience during orientation.

Into the water:

As we got closer to the (cold) water my nerves were at an all time high. We were given our boat positions and then onto the river.

Once on the river:

I had a tight grip on my paddle but quickly settled in as my fears turned into excitement. Especially since my 6 year old was giggling with joy! I already knew my son and hubby were gonna have the time of their lives.

As we approached the bigger rapids our guide let us know what to expect. We had already practiced rowing in sync and we were ready.

She asked for a volunteer to sit on the front of the boat i.e. “Riding the bull:. My hubby quickly raised his hand & hopped up front. All the kids also got to try too!

We also had time during the ride to swim in the river or watch our friend perform backflips into the water:

More pictures from the Go Pro camera! I highly recommend bringing a go pro because you are constantly needing your hands to paddle.

We saw a family of river otters on the river banks. So cute but unfortunately couldn’t get a picture.

The bigger the rapids, the more fun we had! Each rapid had its own life & experience! Twisting, Turning, Rolling.

Below are the professional pictures. They capture us on the biggest rapid and worth every penny!

End of the journey:

Our 4-5 mile trip only took an hour & a half because the river was running so fast.

We didn’t want to dock but we all had huge smiles on our faces.

If you have ever thought about white water rafting, DO IT!!!

Every single one us loved it and would absolutely go again!

On to our next adventure!  Be sure to read my other posts: Perfect Day in LA, Glacier National Park, and our experience at the Ellen Degeneres Show.
